HT Capacitors - High Tension Capacitors

HT Capacitors

We are a trusted provider of robust HT (High Tension) Capacitors, also known as High Tension Capacitors, operating from Pune, Maharashtra, India. These critical Components are specifically designed and manufactured for use in high voltage electrical systems, typically above $1000$ Volts, extending up to EHV (Extra High Voltage) levels. Our HT Capacitors play a crucial role in PFC (Power Factor Correction), voltage regulation, and harmonic mitigation in power transmission and distribution networks, as well as in large industrial installations. Their design necessitates extreme attention to insulation integrity, thermal management, and surge withstand capability to ensure reliable long-term performance under high electrical stress.

The construction of our High Tension Capacitors utilizes premium dielectric materials, most commonly APP (All Polypropylene) film or a Mixed Dielectric system (such as Paper and APP (All Polypropylene) film), interleaved with high-purity Aluminum Foils as electrodes. This combination of MOC (Material of Construction) is carefully selected to minimize dielectric losses, maximize insulation strength, and provide excellent resistance to partial discharges, which are major degradation factors at high voltages. The Capacitor elements are meticulously wound and subjected to a deep vacuum impregnation process using non-toxic, non-PCB insulating oils or compounds. This process ensures the complete elimination of air voids, which is essential for preventing internal discharges and boosting the overall dielectric strength of the Units.

Each HT Capacitor is housed within a sturdy, hermetically sealed metal Enclosure, often made from corrosion-resistant materials like SS (Stainless Steel) or high-grade MS (Mild Steel). The Bushings and Terminals are designed with appropriate creepage distances and clearances to safely handle the high operating voltages. Our High Tension Capacitors are predominantly non-self-healing, offering exceptional stability of capacitance and high surge current handling capacity, which is vital for fault conditions and switching transients in utility networks. They are indispensable in applications involving large Arc Furnaces, Rolling Mills, and Induction Heating Equipment, which impose severe electrical demands. We ensure strict adherence to international standards, including IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) and IS (Indian Standards), with comprehensive testing like impulse voltage withstand and temperature rise tests. We supply these Units individually or as pre-engineered solutions within custom Capacitor Banks and Harmonic Filter Systems, including necessary Accessories like Series Reactors, Fuses, and highly reliable Discharge Resistors as integrated Components and Spare Parts.
